Colour Theory- Relationship between colours

Primary Colours-Yellow.Red.Blue. Primary colours are colours that can be combined to make other colours. A Primary colour can not be made from other colours.
Secondary Colours-Orange.Green.Violet. These colours are made from mixing two primary colours together
Tertiary Colours- These are made from mixing a primary and secondary colour together.

In pairs we were asked to explore the effect of colours towards each other and see if they compete, stick out or sink back. In my pair we had red objects and green objects (primary and secondary) and we started playing around with different backgrounds. Below are some examples.

Green pen on the red background sticks out more. This is because red is greens complimentary colour so the red enhances the green

Red on green sticks out more.

Green on Grey sticks out more.

Here i think the pen looks as thought it changes colour. The pen looks a lot Brigher on the yellow background.

Types of green. When someone ask you to think of the colour green there are a lot to choose from.

Stands out more on black. This is because red is close to orange on the coulour wheel.

In the image above you can see how the black and white change the colour on the envolope and pen even thought they are one block colour.
The black makes the red look darker and the white makes it look lighter.
